Assistant Superintendent of Roadways

The Town of Plainville is accepting applications for an Assistant Superintendent of Roadways. This is a full-time, non-union position. The position will have supervisory and management responsibility for six full time roadway employees, a full-time mechanic and temporary employees. To qualify for the position, an individual must have either a two-year associates degree o equivalent experience, ten years minimum experience in construction or municipal roadway operations, with at least five years in a position of supervisory responsibility, a CDL license with winter experience as a heavy-duty truck driver with plow and wing, and construction equipment operation experience. A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in lieu of stated education and experience requirements. Requires strong skills in word processing and spreadsheets. Experience managing in a union environment preferred. Requires knowledge of budgeting, contract and financial management and demonstrated project management skills. Works closely with the Superintendent on planning and scheduling work assignments, assisting in maintenance of roads and related properties, supervising the repair and maintenance of heavy equipment, streets and landfill operation. Salary dependent on qualifications.
